Artist Statement
Family is important. They are a teacher, a shoulder to cry on, a friend and most importantly when no one else does, they care.
My work is a series of portraits and interviews with my family members showcasing their generational differences and mannerisms. It recently dawned on me that although it seems like it, family doesn’t live forever and as such every moment is precious. I wanted to pay tribute to my family in photographs so that I would have a everlasting image of them. It was also a journey of discovery, the questions I asked in the interviews were questions I’d never heard the answer to. I got to discover things about family that I had never heard before
The photographs are designed to acknowledge my family and to make the viewer feel a sense of just how important family is, that makes them think back to their own past and present.
